Amaluna

A space that invites us to reflect on difference and originality, to think differently." With this premise in mind, designer David Del Valle developed the interior design of an atypical house located in the upper area of Envigado, in the La Acuarela neighborhood. The house, designed by Plan B Arquitectura, is based on 11 independent modules that come together to create a completely unique home.

The greatest challenge in the interior design of this home was achieving consistency with the materials used in the construction: rock, concrete, and metal. The goal was for the natural and mineral materials of the space to directly relate to the comfort of the home. To achieve this, the Del Valle Studio team focused on three fundamental premises:

  • The use of resistant materials that will show their original texture.
  • The design of custom-made pieces that are different from the common configurations of traditional home furniture in Colombia.
  • The correct balance in tones, quantities and functionality of decisions.

The house features a reception hall with a space for residents to enjoy music sessions with their guests. To the left is the kitchen, featuring an eight-seat table and a breakfast table in a space specially designed for the owners to enjoy their morning coffee. Continuing through the main hall, we find the living room in a low, attached system reminiscent of the mid-century Case Study Houses by John Entenza and Richard Neutra. The steel-sheet bookcase, specially designed by David Del Valle, and the woven copper and fique rug give the space a unique feel that connects with the residents' artwork and significant objects. Adjacent to the living room is a semi-outdoor space with a fireplace that seeks to create outdoor social moments and domestic conversations in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Continuing toward the private area, we come across the spaces designed for the couple's children, each with a bed and furniture in distinctive shades of gray and green. Opposite these rooms is the guest bathroom and coat rack, which features a unique way of hanging bags, simulating a modern work of art or washing in a river with a giant rock. The finishes, specially selected to include mother-of-pearl shells, are a hallmark of Del Valle Studio and allow natural light to reflect flashes of natural illumination off the hanging plants and smoked glass mirrors.

The master bedroom features a ceiling-mounted structure simulating a classic four-poster bed with a handmade metal curtain, along with a bed with connectivity to control the light and heavy curtains surrounding the room. There's also a sitting area for private conversations and enjoying the view of the master bedroom. Additionally, areas such as the family's private gathering room and the wet and party area are carefully designed with a selection of natural materials and indirect lighting on the furniture to highlight key pieces and objects, such as a master dressing room reminiscent of a haute couture store.

This project challenges traditional construction and could not have been achieved without the many professionals committed to the project's overall success.
